When it comes to sourcing or finding the right cable ties for hot applications or are exposed to extreme heat, you have to ask yourself “how hot is hot?”. Knowing the true temperature of where you will be installing the cable ties will help you start to determine which product will work best. Most standard cable ties are made from Nylon 6/6 which has a material rating of 185F/85C but for installation/operating the rating is more around 100F/38C. For higher temperatures, you may want to consider heat stabilized Nylon 6/6 or more weather-resistant type cable ties. If you need something for more extreme temperatures you will want to contemplate cable ties made from Polypropylene, Fluoropolymer/Tefzel, or Polyethertherketone which will have a higher temperature rating for both the materials and installation than standard Nylon 6/6 or enhanced Nylon 6/6 products. In the event, you need something more cost-effective or something to endure even higher temperatures a viable option may be our 316 stainless steel cable ties rated up to 1000F/537C for both the material and operating temperatures. Along with the standard/raw 316 stainless steel cable ties we also have 316 stainless steel with a Black Polyester coating designed for electrical applications but is only rated to 302F/150C. When sourcing your cable ties for hot/extreme temperature applications keep in mind other factors: moistures, chemicals, abrasion, vibrations, etc... to ensure you have the right product to get the job done right!
